First Half 2008

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking, Music — webmaster @ 8:18 am

Hi Everybody,

The first half of 2008 was spent:

  1. Completing Kid Wars 8!  It’s too big for web distribution, so let me know if you want to receive a DVD of Kid Wars 7, Kid Wars 8, and a trailer of Kid Wars 9 (to be completed by the end of the year, I hope).
  2. Fixing drywall in the house where a big water leak occurred.  :(
  3. Scorekeeping and helping the coaches of Alex’s Little League team (MinorA Champions!).
  4. Doing some legal consulting from time to time.

I’m hoping to submit something for DVC13 in June, to work on some video stuff for my brother’s 50th birthday, to complete Kid Wars 9, and to get the family 2007 DVD done before the end of 2008.

Fall Filmmaking

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking — webmaster @ 4:13 pm

This Fall I’ll be focusing on creating the sequel to Kid Wars.  This one will have a lot more special effects (both hand crafted and computer generated).  I hope to complete shooting it this Fall and have it edited sometime in 2008.

More info to come.

What’s going on during the Summer

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking, Music — webmaster @ 7:43 pm

What’s happening this summer:

1. Helping Vikram shoot and edit the pilots for The India Street video blog.

2. Shooting Kid Wars 8?

3. Finishing up mixing and mastering the acoustic album, “Roots”, by The Railheads.

4. Editing a personal photo montage for my grandmother’s 90th birthday.

5. Finishing the third and final edit of Bad Luck Bill.

6. Still trying to finalize the script structure for a few different feature length scripts.

Unfortunately, my video storage RAID0 drive on my editing workstation just crashed, so I also need to see what if anything I can recover from it…

Cheers,

Bill

New Films available for viewing online.

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking — webmaster @ 10:11 am

I’ve recently completed two short films which are now available online.

“The Remote = Control” is my entry for the DV Challenge #8 film competition.  The film won second place.  We had 2 weeks to complete a film using the theme “Television.”  You can see the result at the following link.

“Kid Wars” is a Star Wars fan film I put together for my 9 year old son and a few of his friends.  You can see it at the following link.

What’s up in March

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking — webmaster @ 7:41 pm

Stuff going on in March, 2007:

1. Shooting and editing “Kid Wars”, the Star Wars related short film with Alex and a few of his friends.  Expect it for release in April.

2. Prepping for The DV Challenge #8 in late April.  Send me an email if you’re interested in participating.

3. Prepping videos and stills for my parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration the 2nd week in April.  Converting all of their old 8mm film, Super8mm film, and many still photos to DVD with commentary.  Boy, this takes a lot more work than I expected!

4. Still chewing on that idea for the next feature length script.  Did a bunch of research and now I just need to find time to start laying it out on index cards.

5. Helping to coach Alex’s baseball team (MinorB Tigers at http://www.delmarlittleleague.com, in case you’re interested :) )

News for January 2007

Filed under: General, Independent Filmmaking — webmaster @ 10:55 am
  1. Finished up the edit and re-edit for “Bad Luck Bill”, which was submitted to the HBO Comedy Film Festival in Aspen.
  2. Wrapped “The Wishing Well” shoot.
  3. Quickly (in ~3 days) shot and edited “Tanks for the Memories” for the DVC7 online film competition.  I didn’t have enough time for proper effects or sound design, but some of the visuals are pretty cool, thanks to the props and lighting from the folks in my Staging and Lighting classes.  It came in 4th out of 25 films.
  4. Working on the Lake Powell 2000 video for Scott Swazey.
  5. Working on the family DVD for 2006.
  6. Hoping to get back to writing some short and long form scripts.

Cheers,

Bill
